Bhutan embassies abroad do not grant Bhutan visa and it must be applied through a licensed tour operator like us after payment of a fee called as Sustainable Development Fee (SDF). Different category of visas

Tourist Visa

A tourist visa is required for most international travelers visiting the beautiful Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan. The visa is processed through a licensed Bhutanese tour operator before arrival or you can apply yourself online. Visitors must book their trip in advance, including accommodation, transportation, guide services, and a sustainable development fee as required by the government.

Tourist visas are generally issued for leisure travel, sightseeing, trekking, cultural experiences, photography tours, wellness retreats, and festival visits. Once approved, travelers receive a visa clearance letter that allows them to board their flight to Bhutan. The actual visa is stamped upon arrival at Paro International Airport or at designated land entry points.

Diplomatic Visa

A diplomatic visa is granted to diplomats, government officials, and representatives of international organizations traveling to Bhutan for official purposes. This category of visa is usually arranged through official government channels or embassies. Applicants are required to submit diplomatic passports, official letters, and supporting documents from their respective governments or institutions.

Diplomatic visa holders may receive special privileges and exemptions depending on bilateral agreements between Bhutan and their country. The duration and conditions of stay are determined according to the nature of the official mission or assignment.

Business Visa

A business visa is issued to foreign nationals visiting Bhutan for commercial or professional purposes. This includes attending meetings, conferences, trade discussions, investment opportunities, educational collaborations, or business partnerships. Applicants typically need an invitation letter from a Bhutanese company or organization along with passport details and other supporting documents.

Business visas may be issued for single or multiple entries depending on the duration and nature of the business activities. While in Bhutan, visitors are expected to comply with local business regulations and visa conditions.

Gratis Visa

A gratis visa is provided free of charge to special categories of visitors approved by the Royal Government of Bhutan. This may include official guests, volunteers under government-supported programs, certain international representatives, or individuals invited for special events and ceremonies. The visa fee exemption is granted based on government approval and specific eligibility criteria. Although the visa cost may be waived, applicants must still complete the required documentation and approval procedures before entering Bhutan.
